Report: PlayStation shows strong growth while Steam and Xbox suffer from a noticeable slowdown

The Newzoo Computer and Home Appliance Games in 2025 revealed that while PlayStation expanded, PC and Xbox platforms managed to achieve stability only after a period of decline, and the matter does not stop there, but that PlayStation has higher play rates for modern games compared to old games.

Sony has made a distinguished performance that the report described as “the only bright point” in the game industry, and PlayStation witnessed a growth in the number of games played globally, with South Korea (+52%), France (+20%), and the United Kingdom (+18%) to increase activity.

On the other hand, Xbox and Steam markets have declined globally, as Japan and South Korea have witnessed the largest decrease on both platforms, and PlayStation remains the most stable game platforms in interacting with players across all games between 2021 and 2024, while Steam and Xbox platforms have witnessed a remarkable decrease in the number of games that each player plays from 6 to 13 games.

The home appliance market is also expected to lead the Game industry growth by 7% from 2024 to 2027, while the PC sector is expected to contribute by 2.6% in the same period.
